These terms are the agreement between you and FamiliaBase when you use our app.
We've written them to be readable — each section starts with a plain-language
summary — but the full text is what governs.
1. Accepting these terms
In short
Using FamiliaBase means you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy.
By creating an account or using the FamiliaBase application and related services
(the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service with
Charvah LLC, the Minnesota (USA) limited liability company that
operates FamiliaBase (“we”, “us”), and to our
Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your information.
If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
2. Who can use FamiliaBase
In short
Adults create accounts. Children join only through a household run by their parent
or guardian, who is responsible for their use.
You must be an adult under the law of your country to create a FamiliaBase account and
form a household. Minors may use the Service only as members of a household created and
administered by their parent or legal guardian. The administering parent or guardian:
consents to these terms and the Privacy Policy on the child's behalf;
is responsible for the child's use of the Service;
controls the child's membership and may remove it at any time.
You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure, and for everything done
through your account.
3. Households & roles
In short
A household is a shared space run by its parents. Roles decide what each member can
see and do.
FamiliaBase is organised around households. Every member has a role — parent, guardian,
teen, or child — and the Service enforces what each role can see and do (for example,
children cannot view household finances, and certain actions require a parent).
Household parents administer the household: inviting and removing members, assigning
roles, and configuring features. Choose members carefully — most household content is
shared by design.
Content visibility inside a household is governed by the app's visibility settings.
FamiliaBase cannot control what a member who can legitimately see content does with it
outside the app.
You may belong to more than one household; each is governed separately.
4. Your content
In short
Your family's content stays yours. You give us only the technical permission needed to
store it and show it to the people you shared it with.
You (and your household members) own the content you create in FamiliaBase — tasks,
photos, documents, messages, records, all of it. You grant us a limited, worldwide,
royalty-free licence to host, store, transmit, and display that content solely to
operate the Service — for example, storing a photo and showing it to the household
members you shared it with. This licence ends when the content or account is deleted,
except for residual copies in backups that age out on a rolling basis.
You're responsible for the content you add: you must have the right to share it, and it
must not violate the law or these terms. We don't monitor household content, but we may
remove content or suspend accounts if we're made aware of material that violates
Acceptable use or the law.
5. Acceptable use
In short
Use FamiliaBase for your family, lawfully. Don't attack the service or other people.
You agree not to:
break the law, or store or share unlawful content;
harass, abuse, or harm others — inside or outside your household;
access or attempt to access other households' data, or probe, scan, or test the
vulnerability of the Service without our written permission;
interfere with the Service's operation (including overloading, scraping at scale, or
distributing malware);
impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation;
resell or commercially exploit the Service without our agreement;
use the Service to make decisions that require a licensed professional (see
Not professional advice).
6. Plans & payments
In short
FamiliaBase is currently free. If paid plans launch, they'll be billed through the app
stores with clear pricing shown before you pay.
The Service is currently offered free of charge. The app may display subscription tiers
(such as Premium or Family Plus); where a tier is shown but payment is not yet
enabled, selecting it does not create a charge.
If and when paid plans become purchasable, they will be sold through the Apple App Store
or Google Play, with pricing, billing period, and renewal terms shown before purchase.
Purchases will renew and be cancellable according to the applicable store's subscription
rules, and refunds will follow the store's refund policies plus any rights you have under
local law. We'll update these terms before real payments go live.
7. Not professional advice
In short
FamiliaBase is an organiser, not a doctor, accountant, or emergency service.
Health features help your family record and remember health
information. They are not medical advice, not a medical device, and
not a substitute for professional care. Never rely on FamiliaBase for emergencies —
call your local emergency number.
Budget features are record-keeping tools, not financial advice.
Spiritual features (calendars, prayer times, reading plans) are
informational; verify times and dates that matter with your local community.
Reminders and notifications are delivered on a best-effort basis and
can fail (device settings, connectivity, platform outages). Don't depend on them for
anything where a missed notification could cause harm — medication schedules included.
8. Availability & changes to the Service
In short
We aim for reliability but can't promise 100% uptime, and features will evolve.
We work to keep FamiliaBase available and improving, but the Service is provided without
an uptime guarantee: maintenance, updates, and events beyond our control can interrupt
it. We may add, change, or retire features. If we ever discontinue the Service
entirely, we will give you reasonable notice and a way to export your household's data.
9. Ending your account
In short
Leave any time — account deletion is built into the app. We can suspend accounts that
break these terms.
You can stop using FamiliaBase at any time and delete your account in
Settings → Delete account. Deletion works as described in the
Privacy Policy: your personal identity is removed
immediately, and shared household records are anonymised rather than ripped out of your
family's history.
We may suspend or terminate an account that materially violates these terms, creates
risk for other users, or where the law requires it. Where reasonable, we'll warn you
first and give you a chance to export your data.
10. Our intellectual property
The Service — including the apps, design, and branding — is owned by Charvah LLC
and its licensors, and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal,
non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the apps for their intended purpose. You
may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from the Service
except where the law permits it regardless of this clause. Your content remains yours
(section 4).
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied —
including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do
not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will never
be lost; keep independent copies of anything irreplaceable.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, or affects
statutory consumer rights you're entitled to.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law: (a) we are not liable for indirect, incidental,
special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenues, data, or
goodwill; and (b) our total liability for all claims relating to the Service in any
twelve-month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service
in that period or fifty US dollars (US$50).
These limits don't apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence,
fraud, or any other liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the Service evolves. For material changes we'll notify you
in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using FamiliaBase after a
change takes effect, that constitutes acceptance; if you don't agree, delete your
account before the effective date.
14. Governing law & disputes
Before anything formal: email us at
hello@familiabase.com — most issues are
resolved quickly and amicably.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, United States,
without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes that can't be resolved
informally are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal
courts located in Minnesota — without affecting any mandatory consumer
protections of the country or state where you live.
